McIlory, Spieth Favored to Win the PGA 2017 Title
Date Posted: August 7, 2017
The top golf players will make their way to the Quail Hollow Club on Aug. 7 for the US PGA Championship 2017. The course has gone through some changes with Tom Fazio’s redesign.
Many Bitcoin sportsbook platforms are leaning toward Rory McIlory and Jordan Spieth this season. Following them is Dustin Johnson who is still leading the tour with the total strokes he has this season.
PGA 2017 odds
William Hill and Bet365 have the same odds for both the top favored golfers on Aug. 7.Rory McIlroy has 8.00 odds of winning while Jordan Spieth has 9.00. The other players that are close to the two are Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama. Dustin has 11.00 on William Hill while Bet365 sets him at 13.00. Both sportsbooks are giving Matsuyama 13.00 odds to win.
Rory has the better advantage in Quail Hollow since he won the course twice in 2012 and 2014. Apart from Quail Hollow, he also took the Wells Fargo title back in 2010 and 2015.
One reason why he does not command odds that are below odds of 5.00 is due to a hairline fracture on his ribs. Rory’s injury got him to miss the BMW PGA Championship back in May. On the other hand, He got to grit through the pain and landed a T-4 during the British Open. There is still a good chance he can take this season’s title.
Jordan Spieth, on the other hand, is the second youngest players to take three major titles. Jordan is looking to be the next Tiger Woods by being the youngest to complete the grand slam. The young golfer is looking at Rory to be the man to beat in Quail Hollow.
More names to consider
Dustin Johnson or DJ still has the best strokes in this PGA Tour season. Some believe that his time away from Quail Hollow by six years will bring down his chances. This could have been true if it weren’t for the changes on the course. By not being back in Quail Hollow, DJ can get into the groove of the new course than others who played on it in the last two years.
Meanwhile, Hideki Matsuyama managed a T-4 position in 2016. Matsuyama was also the second-ranked players in the world before the young Jordan got the rank recently. He still has a chance at getting his first major if he is consistent with getting the ball to the greens with fewer strokes.
Quail Hollow Club course
Quail Hollow has gone through some radical changes this season. The ones to receive a facelift are the front nine holes. One of which is the first hole which was a par 4. This hole is lengthened to be a par 5 hole which can give everyone an early chance for a birdie. These changes are sure to give seasoned golfers of the hole a good challenge.
