Pacquiao Stands as Underdog vs Thurman
Date Posted: June 13, 2019
Sportsbooks favor Keith Thurman in his fight against Manny Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight championship belt.
As of today, PaddyPower set Thurman’s odds at -137 and Pacquiao’s at +110. This means that a punter will have to bet $133 on Thurman to win $100. Anyone rooting for the other boxer will rake in a $110 win if he places a $100 Pacquiao bet.
Asked about his reaction on his being the underdog, Pacquiao told sportswriters:
“Beautiful. That’s what I want. Parang [like with] De La Hoya. It’s going to be an added motivation.”
The Filipino boxer compares his upcoming fight with his battle before against Oscar De La Hoya. Being the underdog then, Pacquiao still managed to win against the oddsmakers’ favorite De La Hoya as early as the 9th round.
While the odds are stacked against Manny, a lot of bettors are confident he will win. As of today, among those who placed money line bets on popular online bookmakers for the battle, 53% of them root for the Filipino boxer.
If he wins, Pacquiao, who is 10 years older than his opponent, will give Thurman his first-ever boxing loss. But it is going to be a “dangerous fight for Pacquiao,” according to Mikey Garcia, an IBF and WBO champ. In an interview with Boxing Social, Garcia said:
“One Time is young, hungry, and poses a danger to Pac Man.”
